Personal Profile

Eric Bromwell was born in Perry Hall in 1976, and is a lifelong resident of the 8th Legislative District.  Eric attended Perry Hall Elementary and Middle Schools before graduating from Calvert Hall College High School in 1994.

At home, Eric was raised and immersed in the political arena by his father, Thomas L. Bromwell Sr., who was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 1978 and to the Maryland Senate in 1982.  Senator Bromwell served until his voluntary retirement from elected service in 2002.  Like his father, Eric’s strong desire to help people in his community was the reason he ran for office, and still takes tremendous pride in his job today.

In 1998, Eric received his Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Salisbury University.  He then furthered his education in graduate studies at the University of Baltimore in 2000.  On January 8, 2003, Eric was honored to become one of the youngest Delegates ever elected at the age of twenty-four.  Thanks to the voters of the 8th District, Eric has represented Baltimore County for 12 legislative sessions.

From 2007-2010, Eric was elected unanimously to serve as Chairman of the Baltimore County Delegation to the Maryland House of Delegates. Through his reputation of bipartisanship and coalition building, Eric led the Delegation which secured four straight record-setting years of school construction and renovation funding for Baltimore County.  This is particularly important because Baltimore County has the second oldest schools in Maryland.

Eric currently serves on the Health and Government Operations Committee and has served as Chairman of the Health Facilities and Occupations Subcommittee since 2011.
