About This Campaign

The purpose of this campaign is to represent the interests of Milltimber and Peterculter households who will be directly affected by the proposed new route via Milltimber Brae of the Aberdeen WPR (Western Peripheral Route).

On 01/12/05 Tavish Scott, the Scottish Executive transport minister, made the surprising announcement that the Aberdeen WPR would go through what is called the Milltimber Brae route rather than the previously much expected Murtle route. As a result some 19 homes plus the Aberdeen International School (according to the latest published route on 02/05/06) will be subject to compulsory purchase orders and a much larger number on the west side of Milltimber and the east side of Peterculter will be subjected to a major road construction over an extended period, followed by the noise and pollution of the completed road, currently planned for late 2012 (according to the latest estimate issued on 28/06/07).

***   It is estimated that well over 8,000 separate formal objections to the AWPR have been received by Transport Scotland by the closing date of Friday 9th February 2007.   ***

***   An extremely detailed objection letter was sent by the Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber Community Council.  This can be accessed at their website via the following link :

A detailed map of the proposed road and its interchange in Milltimber can be obtained by downloading the flyer distributed before the last public meeting held in the International School on October 29th last year.  This can be found in the Downloads Page accessable on the left of this page.

A map detailing the latest preferred route was published on 02/05/06.  This can be found on the AWPR Project Website at:

These include action groups from Silverburn, Milltimber & Peterculter (as covered by this website), Maryculter, Netherley and Charleston. The website can be found at:

A registration form to register yourself as a supporter of Road Sense can be found as a Word document by clicking on the Downloads Page in the column on the left.  You can also register online by going to the Road Sense website shown above.

Your particular attention is also drawn to the STAG 1 Appraisals of the various options considered. The STAG 1 Appraisals are available in the 'STAG assessments' section on the AWPR Project Website at:
